Heads Up support

Fixes for the common problems, and how to reach us when those don't help.

If something on your list is wrong or missing, press Copy diagnostics at the bottom of the Heads Up popup and paste it into your email. It lets us see what happened without you having to describe it. It includes your course and assignment names, so look it over first if that matters to you.

It says to sign in to Canvas first

"Please sign in to Canvas first."

Heads Up connects using your Canvas sign-in in this browser. Open your school's Canvas in a tab, sign in, then open Heads Up again and press Connect Canvas.

Canvas rejected the token

"Canvas rejected the token. It may have expired or been revoked."

This happens if the Heads Up token was deleted in Canvas, or it ran out. Make sure you're signed in to Canvas, then press Reconnect in the popup.

Couldn't reach Canvas

Check your internet connection and press Check my classes. If it says Canvas had a problem answering, Canvas itself is having trouble. Wait a few minutes and try again.

My school isn't listed, or says "Coming in v1.1"

Heads Up works with schools whose Canvas address ends in instructure.com. Schools with their own Canvas address are coming in the next update. Keep Heads Up installed and it will start working then. If your school isn't in the list at all, email us its Canvas address.

It won't install on my school Chromebook

School-managed Chromebooks only allow extensions the district has approved, so Heads Up can't run there. It works in Chrome on your own computer.

Removing Heads Up

Press Disconnect in the popup before you remove it. That deletes the access token Heads Up made in your Canvas account. If you already removed it, or Heads Up couldn't delete the token, you can do it yourself:

  1. In Canvas, click Account, then Settings.
  2. Scroll down to Approved Integrations.
  3. Delete the ones called Heads Up.

What Heads Up reads, what it sends and where it goes are all in the privacy policy.
